Live Review : The Damn Truth + Ashley Sherlock @ Waterloo Music Bar, Blackpool, on Sunday 24 November 2024

“I think my eyeliner’s running…”

There are not many bands that can reduce a hardened rocker to tears.

But when The Damn Truth last played the Waterloo, twelve months ago, that’s precisely what happened. Stood in the crowd with tears in his eyes, he wasn’t the only one to be caught up in the emotion of this incendiary, emotionally charged and supremely talented band. For many, that night was their first time seeing the band, although everyone left a convert, utterly blown away by what they’d witnessed.  This time around, the crowd is bigger, no doubt driven by the evangelical fervour that The Damn Truth foster in their fans, a fervour that means you’re going to tell absolutely anyone who’ll listen about just how utterly wonderful they truly are. Live Review : The Damn Truth + Scarlet @ The Live Rooms, Chester on October 23rd 2022

Ever had a moment when you hear something on the radio and instantly love it? Well that happened to me with tonight’s headliners. Canadians The Damn Truth recently released a song called ‘This Is Who We Are Now’ (taken from their latest Bob-Rock-produced album “Now Or Nowhere”) and the instant I heard it I was hooked. So when I heard they were coming to Chester, despite not really knowing anything else about them, I had to go along.

Live Review : King King + The Damn Truth @ Academy 2, Manchester on February 17th 2022

The last time Glaswegian blues rock stalwarts King King played here was exactly 3 years ago; and a lot has changed since that date- the comings and goings of various members, an album, and the welcome addition of a certain big brother into the fold. Having last caught the chaps back in October at the Leeds Stylus, I knew just what a treat the crowd of mainly middle aged folks were in for if they hadn’t seen the new expanded line up before. First though, we needed to welcome The Damn Truth to open proceedings and it was quite a stir they proved to make.
